    FAQ

    Pomodoro timer questions, answered

How the Pomodoro Technique works, how to use this free online focus and study timer, and how to get more done.

    What is Go PomoTimer?

Go PomoTimer is a free online Pomodoro timer for desktop and mobile browsers. It splits your work into focused sessions with short breaks, so you stay on task and finish more.

Beyond the timer, you get a task list, study rooms to focus with friends on one shared timer, built-in lo-fi music, a full-screen focus mode and your daily and weekly progress. All of this works without an account. A free account adds statistics, streaks, sync across devices and the global leaderboard.

    Do I need an account?

No. Most of Go PomoTimer works without one. A free account unlocks a few extras.

    • •No account needed: the timer and custom lengths, tasks (saved in this browser), lo-fi music, focus mode, themes, study rooms, today's and this week's focus time, your focus card, and viewing the leaderboard.
    • •Free account needed: your rank on the leaderboard, the statistics dashboard and PDF report, day streaks, syncing tasks and history across devices, and writing a review.

Can I study with friends online using a shared Pomodoro timer?

Yes. A study room is a free virtual co-working space where everyone follows the same Pomodoro timer in real time. It works well for study groups, remote teams and accountability partners.

    • •Click Study room at the top of the page, name your room and share the invite link or the room code.
    • •Friends open the link (or type the code), enter a name and join. No account or download needed.
    • •Everyone sees the same focus and break countdown, and anyone can start, pause or skip.
    • •You can see who is in the room and which task each person is working on.
    • •The room's timer runs on our server, so it stays correct even if you lock your phone or lose your connection for a moment.
    • •A room closes by itself after 2 hours with nobody in it. Next time, just create a new one.

More in our guide to study rooms.

Can I add the Pomodoro timer to Notion?

Yes. Go PomoTimer has a free Notion widget, so the timer sits right inside your study planner or work dashboard.

    • •Open the Notion widget page, pick one of the four themes and copy the link.
    • •In your Notion page, type /embed, paste the link and click Embed link.
    • •Drag the corner to resize it. The timer switches between a full, compact and slim layout to fit.
    • •No account is needed, and the widget cannot read your Notion notes, tasks or workspace.

    What is the Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time-management method created by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. You work in focused intervals, usually 25 minutes, separated by short breaks. Each interval is called a "pomodoro", Italian for tomato, after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer Cirillo used as a student.

Is Go PomoTimer really free? What's the catch?

There is no catch. Every feature, including the free account, costs nothing and there are no ads. Go PomoTimer is a small independent project, and server costs are covered by people who choose to buy us a coffee.

    Ready to boost your productivity?

Go Pomo Timer honestly helped me a lot as a NEET student. The timer is simple and don’t distract me like other apps do. Pomodoro sessions keeps me focused and I actually study more now. It really made a difference in my daily routine.

App has a clean interface that makes it easy to jump into focused sessions. Customisable timer is a plus. themes are super cool. I had seen that a competition was going on in October. Waiting for such more events !
